Seeing Christ in the World .... Being Christ in the World

Sunday Club

At St Mildred’s Church Sunday Club we welcome all children aged between 3 and 11 years.

Run by our Children’s Minister, Shirley Docker, and her dedicated team of helpers, we seek to teach the children about the Bible and the love of God through fun activities including crafts, drama and cookery. The children particularly enjoy sharing what they have learned with the rest of the congregation when they join in with the end of the church service. We meet on Sunday mornings during term time at 9.30am in the Church Hall in Church Road. There is no Sunday Club on the first Sunday of each month because the children and their families join with the Family Service.

We also hold special events throughout the year to which we welcome not only our regular Sunday Club children, but also their friends and any other children who would like to come. These events include Saturday morning Children’s Breakfasts where the children enjoy a delicious, healthy breakfast followed by an interactive talk and crafts relating to a theme.

On Good Friday we hold an Easter Workshop during the afternoon with crafts, cookery and singing.

During the summer we get together with the children and their parents for outdoor fun and games and a picnic tea.

At Christmas time we hold two very special services for the children. Our Christingle Service raises money for the Children’s Society and the children all receive an orange decorated with sweets and a candle (the Christingle), which represents the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Our Crib Service is held on Christmas Eve and the children participate in the service by helping to assemble our nativity scene.

If you would like to know more, please call Shirley on 01233-733772, or just come along and join us; we would be very pleased to see you!
