Seeing Christ in the World .... Being Christ in the World

Mothers' Union

The Mothers’ Union loves and supports millions of families of all sizes and shapes, across 81 countries of the world. It does this through community development, spiritual engagement, policy research and campaigning.

A Worldwide membership of 4 million is involved in literacy and development programmes, emergency relief in crisis, training and work with families affected by HIV/Aids, and representation at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. For further information, see:

In the UK, members work through parenting courses, in prisons, marriage preparation and family contact centres. Each Branch has its own local interests and contribution as resources and opportunity allow.

Our Tenterden Branch supports Away From It All holidays, the Women’s Refuge and the National Lobbying of Government on matters relating to marriage and family life. The Branch has 40 members and meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in St. Mildred’s Church Hall.

We have a series of speakers and try to encourage an informed concern for the issues we face in a changing world. We hope to support the church’s continuing ministry to families as new patterns emerge. Our prayer life supports all our work; news on the worldwide network helps us to do this. We meet for worship as a Deanery and Diocese as well as our commitment to uphold the Christian core of our aims and objectives.

We are always open to and welcome any new members. For further information on our Branch, please contact the Branch Leader Wendy Stevenson through the Church Office.
