Seeing Christ in the World .... Being Christ in the World

St. Mildred's Church Choir

St. Mildred’s Church Choir is a friendly and fun part of the church. It under the direction of our Choirmaster Michael Freer and is accompanied by our Organist Geoffrey Davison. There are currently about 20 members and we warmly encourage new members to join our four part choir. We have vacancies for all parts: tenors, basses, altos, sopranos and trebles. We provide training in the reading and understanding of music, and voice training. We are affiliated to the RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) and prepare and enter choristers for the RSCM exams – i.e. bronze and silver awards. We enjoy singing a wide variety of music. Our choir practice is held on Thursdays from 7 to 8 pm.

The Choir sings at the main 9.30 am services on all but the first Sunday of the month (when there is a Family Service); and at 6 pm both on 1st Sundays (Evening Eucharist with Prayers for Healing), and on 3rd Sundays (Choral Evensong), It leads the Matins service at St. John's at 11.15am on the first Sunday of the month. We also sing at the main festivals (i.e. Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, Advent, and Christmas).

We sing at weddings as requested. From time to time we lead Choral Evensong in Canterbury Cathedral (and on occasion at other churches). We lead the singing at St. John’s Smallhythe at their candlelit Carol Service before Christmas.

Please do come and try us out – and, hopefully, join us. You will be most welcome.
