Seeing Christ in the World .... Being Christ in the World

Wednesday Lunch Club

The Lunch Club has now been thriving for 20 years. It provides a meeting place once a month, mainly for people living alone. No membership is required and we are always welcoming newcomers, especially those recently arrived in Tenterden and the surrounding area. We have many kind volunteers who prepare, serve, and, most importantly, wash up after, our simple lunches – which usually conclude with a few poems or stories chosen and read by members over a cup of coffee or tea. The cost is only £3. Occasionally, due to popular request, we show a film afterwards!

We meet in St. Mildred’s Church Hall at 12.30 pm on the third Wednesday in the month, every month of the year – except June.

For in June each year we have a special annual outing on the local railway! We head off to Bodiam from Tenterden Station for a train ride with a cream tea – delicious hot scones, thick cream, jam and, of course, the much needed cup of hot tea.

We usually manage to occupy a whole carriage and, judging by the noise level, there is a lot of chat going on as we steam through the countryside.

Do join us if you think you would enjoy a chat and a simple lunch.
