Seeing Christ in the World .... Being Christ in the World

Our Charities & Missions

In St. Mildred’s we are privileged to be able to contribute over 10% of our income to Charities and Missions. Every 5 years we decide those we wish to support for the next 5 years and give equally to all of them. We also support other charities from specific collections, participate with Churches Together in Tenterden’s Christian Aid week fund raising and the Benefice supports the Homewood School Christian Worker.

For the 5 years 2011 to 2016 the Charities and Missions St. Mildred’s supports are:

  • Aids Orphans in Africa
  • Barnabas Fund
  • Cry in the Dark
  • Kent Air Ambulance
  • Maidstone Christian Care
  • Mission Aviation Fellowship
  • Pilgrim Hospices
  • Samaritans
  • Tear Fund
  • Tenterden Counselling Service
  • Tenterden Day Centre
  • Water Aid

In addition, we support Operation Sunshine from our Harvest Collection and the Children’s Mission from a special collection.

The Benefice (along with other churches in the Homewood School catchment area) supports the provision of the Christian Worker at Homewood school.

The Benefice and the other Churches together in Tenterden contribute to Christian Aid each year through the income from the Lent lunches and the envelope collection in Tenterden in Christian Aid week. This year the amount raised was just over £4,000 – including £1,000 from the Lent lunches.

We are blessed indeed that we can support organisations outside our church who do such wonderful work.
