GUEST PREACHERS

 

Today we welcome two guest preachers. At St Mildred’s, Murray Wilkinson, Canterbury Diocesan Children and Young People’s Ministry Adviser. Murray will be speaking at the Family Service. Bishop Trevor will be preaching at St John’s and dedicating the new servery and loo!

 

SUNDAY LUNCH

 

Sunday lunch for those who live alone will be served in St Mildred’s Church Hall today at 12.30pm. Don’t be late!

 

EVENING EUCHARIST

 

Because we can’t compete with the closing stages of Tentertainment, this evening’s celebration of the Eucharist will be held at St John’s at 6pm!

 

SUMMER DRINKS PARTY

 

The Friends of St Mildred's are holding a Summer Drinks Party this evening from 6 - 8pm at Ingleden Barn, Swain Road. Existing Friends are warmly invited, together with those who would like to become a Friend. To enrol, or find out more, please email friendsofstmildreds@gmail.com.

Morning Prayer will be said in St Mildred’s every day from Monday to Friday at 9am.

BELLRINGING

 

The St Mildred’s Church bellringers practise tomorrow at 7.30pm. Pop up if you’d like to learn?

 

HOLY COMMUNION

 

Holy Communion will be celebrated in St Michael’s Church on Wednesday and in St Mildred’s Church on Thursday. Both services will be at 11am.

 

At 7pm there will be a meeting of the summer Children’s Holiday Club planning group in St Mildred’s sacristy.

 

CHOIR PRACTICES

 

St Michael’s and St Mildred’s church choirs rehearse on Thursday at 7pm (alternate Thursdays at St Michael’s, so ring Lindsay to make sure it’s the right week). If you’d like to join then contact Lindsay.

 

BEREAVEMENT VISITORS

 

Our bereavement visiting team will hold the usual monthly meeting in St Mildred’s sacristy on Thursday at 9.30am.

 

JUST THE TICKET

 

Just the Ticket Memory Café is open this Friday (and every Friday) from 10.30am until 12.30pm in the Refreshment Room at Tenterden Railway Station.

 

MESSY CHURCH AT ST MICHAEL’S

 

The next St Michael’s Messy Church will be held in the school from 3.30pm until 5pm this Friday. To faith, fun and friends, we can add food in the shape of afternoon tea.

SERVICES

 

Next Sunday we celebrate the Seventh Sunday after Trinity and St Mildred’s Patronal Festival. The services will be as follows:

8am Holy Communion (St Michael's);

8am Holy Communion (St Mildred's);

9.30am The Eucharist (St Mildred's);

10am Food for Thought (St Michael's);

11.15am Holy Communion (St John's);

11.30am Civic Service (St Mildred's);

6pm Create Space Iona Communion (St Mildred's Church Hall).

The readings will include one or more of the following:

Deuteronomy 30.9-14; Colossians 1.1-14; Luke 10.25-37. 

There will be different readings at St Mildred's.

 

GUEST PREACHER

 

Throughout the summer, we will be focussing upon the theme of Vocations and Ministry at the 9.30am services at St Mildred’s. To kick start the series, The Reverend Canon Joss Walker, Diocesan Vocations Adviser, will be speaking at St Mildred’s next Sunday at 9.30am.

 

CIVIC SERVICE

 

This year’s Civic Service will be held in St Mildred’s at 11.30am next Sunday.

CREATE SPACE

 

The final Create Space will take place in St Mildred’s Church Hall next Sunday at 6pm. It will take the form of an Iona Communion. We are then giving Create Space a bit of a break, relaunching it as more fully an ecumenical act of worship later in the year.

 

COMING UP

 

MESSY BREAKFAST CHURCH

 

The next Messy Breakfast Church snaps, crackles and pops in Tenterden Junior School on Saturday 16th July, from 9am until 10.30am. Turn up and enjoy faith, friends, food and fun!

 

WEDNESDAY LUNCH CLUB

 

The next Wednesday Lunch Club will take place on the 20th July. Come along to St Mildred’s Church Hall at 12.30pm. Please ring Mary Monckton for further details (240767).

 

DEANERY QUIET DAY

 

The churches of Romney and Tenterden deanery have organised a Quiet Day at St Peter, Greatstone, on Saturday 23rd July from 9.30am until 4pm. The day will be led by Neville Emslie, diocesan Ministry Development Officer. Book a place through Judy Vinson (241504) who will gladly supply further information.

 

PRAYER TENT

 

Prayer Tent, our monthly prayer group, will be held in St Mildred’s Church on Friday 5th August from 7pm until 8pm. Everyone is welcome.

HOLY COMMUNION AT ST MICHAEL’S

 

John Emmott’s recent hip operation has made it necessary to cancel the 8am Holy Communion services at St Michael’s until the beginning of August, by which time we hope that John will be bouncing around once again.

 

WOOL NEEDED

 

Gail Clarkson's knitting project, where 28 girls in her form group at school are learning to knit, has really taken off and they are in need of more wool! They are knitting scarves and blankets for refugees and those who are homeless. If you can spare any wool, contact Gail (07971 531870).

Cathie will be ordained deacon in Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday 2nd July, and then begin her new ministry at Great Chart and Singleton. We would like to present Cathie with a gift. If you would like to make a contribution, please give it to one of the ministers before the end of June.

 On Friday, there will be a commemoration of the beginning of the Battle of the Somme at the War Memorial in the High Street at 7.30am. Please bring a whistle.
